Guti Defends Xabi Alonso After Club World Cup Setback

Real Madrid icon Guti has spoken out in support of current manager Xabi Alonso following Los Blancos' heavy 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semifinal on Wednesday.

In an interview with DAZN, Guti acknowledged the disappointment of the result but urged fans and the media not to rush to judgment based solely on this tournament.

> “At Real Madrid, every little thing counts, and Xabi knows that,” Guti said. “But I’m standing with him. You can’t assess his entire work based on one competition. Yes, it went wrong here—but I believe things will turn around. I have full faith we’ll see a different Madrid very soon.”

Guti also took the opportunity to highlight the impressive performance of Achraf Hakimi, who starred for PSG and once came through Madrid’s youth ranks under Guti's guidance.

> “Achraf has always been a joy to watch,” he recalled. “I remember him coming up to me asking if he’d get some minutes, and I told him, ‘You should be staying here!’ Even back then, he was special. He’s matured incredibly, and right now, I honestly think he’s the best right-back in world
